Amazon Partnerships With UK Government To Test Drone Deliveries
Since the introduction of drones to commercial scene, the world’s leading e-tailing firm Amazon is working hard to start Drone deliveries to customers in the UK. The company’s virtual vision appears to land on the reality soil soon. In a recent announcement, Amazon has affirmed the partnership with the British government to conduct tests gauging the practicability of delivery of small parcels using drone. Such assessments will be carried out for the first time in the UK.
A cross-government team supported the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) permitted Amazon to test three key sections: Operations Beyond line of sight, obstacle avoidance and flight where a person operates several independent drones.
The testing will monitor drones hauling parcels weighing 2.3kg (5lb) or less, which numbers the 90% of the company’s sales.
During the tests top priority would be to make sure that delivery by drone do not adversely influence other airspace users.
For the duration of the tests the drone will be curtailed to an altitude of 400 feet, which is also regulated as standard elevation for private drone function. And also, see to that they stay away from working close airport flight paths.
The fresh tie up amid Amazon and the British government aspires to accelerate the development. If all went as arranged, then, for sure Britain can have the Amazon drone deliveries by 2017.
Amazon has cleared all the wind by stating that the tests priority is that the system can function safely. They continue to say that they’re not going to launch until they demonstrate water tight protection, and this program is going to help achieve the same.
The Amazon counterpart CCA further adds: they want to make possible the innovation which happens from the development of drone deliveries technology by securely incorporating drones into the complete aviation setup. Also, these analyses by Amazon will aid to update policy and upcoming approach.
Other than exceptional testing situations such as, that given to Amazon, the present UK legislation says that drones are restricted to fly over 50 meters of a building or a human being, or inside of 150 meters of a build-up area.
The future is full of hopes after these steps. And the times aren’t far when we shall witness Drone deliveries taking over courier delivery drivers and prove as a game changing technology to logistics supply chains.
