Australia Post Adds 182 Electric Delivery Vehicles To It’s Peak Season Delivery Fleet
In preparation to relieve pressure in the upcoming peak season volume deliveries, the Government of Australia has added 182 new electric delivery vehicles (EDVs) to the Australia post’s Queensland fleet.
The fresh inclusion of three-wheeled machines are said to be carrying more than one hundred small size packets and about more than 1200 letters. The enhanced ability is capable of handling three times the volume of the Post’s regular motorbikes.
The utilization of the newly added vehicle will be covering the areas around Queensland’s hotspots for e-commerce, Rockhampton and Heathwood, where there have been boosted in online shopping between a fifth and a quarter from 2017 to 2018.
“These vehicles are more visible, more stable, have increased rider protection and lower on-road speeds, all of which makes our posties safer,” stated Angela Creedon, Australia Post’s General Manager of Deliveries for Queensland.
“We have made modifications such as adding an overhead canopy, dash cams, a hydraulic seat, speed limiters, engine immobilisers and automatic storage locking systems, based on feedback from posties.”
By February 2020 the company aims at deploying a sum of 962 EDVs all over Australia.
