US passenger airline Delta first Set to Provide door-to-door parcel service
After Collaborating with Roadie, a US parcel company, Delta Air lines has become the maiden US passenger airlines to provide a complete door to parcel delivery.
The service–DASH, will provide a door to door same day delivery for a time bound goods, such as automotive parts and medical supplies, from Delta’s hub in Atlanta the US to more than fifty-five cities domestically.
Working on a gig economy model, Rodies hires drivers to deliver using their own personal vehicles. Established in 2015, the company has now more than 150,000 drivers across the world to make commercial deliveries for renowned brands like Home Depot and Walmart.
As per Roadie and Delta, the collaboration is partnered to erase the requirement for the sender or receiver to travel back and forth from the airport–however similar door-to-door parcel delivery is already being offered by various renowned courier service providers.
The DASH service is presently viable for packets or parcels with less than 100 pound weight and the measurement is restricted to 90 inch in length.
